A long time coming…

To say it’s been a long time since I’ve blogged would be a serious understatement considering the last blog post was published February 17, 2015. Just 6 months ago, no big deal. So we have a lot to catch up on! This is going to be a long one. Good luck!

So in the last 6 months I’ve shot some beautiful boudoir sessions, a bunch of gorgeous weddings, and the most perfect sun-drenched portrait sessions! I’ve posted some teasers on my Facebook page here and my Instagram page here. But don’t worry, I plan to get them all on this blog where they deserve to be shared!!

Oh yeah, and in case you don’t follow my Instagram account—I also got pregnant. The day I found out, I was up at like 4:30 a.m. taking the test because I literally couldn’t stand the suspense any longer. I held off on telling Calvin so I could plan some cute way to tell him—that lasted approximately 5 minutes, then I was waking him from a dead sleep to tell him the news. In June, we found out we’re having a baby boy and had a chance to see what he’s been up to inside there (he apparently likes chewing on his umbilical cord and boxing with my uterus.)

{I swear we’ve been taking actual progress photos with my professional gear and have a legit maternity session coming up, but for now here are a few random iPhone photos! The two on the left are from our 19 week appointment when we finally got to see our little boy! The right is more recently from my 28th week!}
We're so excited to be welcoming a baby boy in October!

I’ve loved carrying him so far and selfishly kind of wish he could stay there so he can be all mine! 🙂 Crazy first time mom here! Whatever. To be totally honest, I don’t look forward to sharing him. I know there will be moments I’ll be begging someone to take him just so I can take a shower or grocery shop in peace—it’s the whole working 2 jobs thing that’s weighed heavy on me since finding out we’re expecting.

Insert reason things have been a little quiet around here. I’ve debated like crazy and attempted to make plan after plan about what I’m going to do once Baby P is here. I reallly like plans. Unfortunately, I’m lucky enough to love both of my jobs (I know, poor me.), so the decision isn’t as clear as you might think. The one thing I do know is that regardless of what I’m doing, I want to have time to enjoy my new little family.

I’ve worked so hard to find and excel in my marketing position. It’s a great job with great benefits and I really enjoy what I do.

I’ve also worked realllyy hard to build my photography business. I love being a photographer. Getting feedback from brides about how beautiful you made them feel in their photos or from family members showing their appreciation for me capturing a beautiful moment for them—it’s just so rewarding!

Turns out, writing on this blog—what I had been avoiding until I had a concrete plan—is exactly what I needed to figure things out. Literally as I got to this point of this post, it hit me what I had to do. So, what I’ll say for now is: a lot of planning and preparation is in the works right now. I do need to get some things finalized before making anything official. Soooo here’s your cliff hanger! 🙂 Sorry about that. But be on the look out for some beautiful photos hitting the blog in the coming days, and soon enough I’ll be ready to share part two of this. 🙂
