Bathroom Renovation {Part I}

Ahh I love sunny, warm (even if it’s only warm in comparison to 30 degrees) weekends! Saturday Calvin had to work, so Bailey and I got plenty of bonding time spending our day outside! She loveeesss car rides, so when I was outside cleaning my car, she just had to get in.  She was feeling oddly loveable and not camera shy like usual, sooo we of course had a little selfie photoshoot! I think it was just her way of begging to go for a ride. 🙂

Sunday was a little more productive… We’ve been planning to renovate our lovely ALL blue 70’s bathroom, and finally got started this weekend. I’m so excited to see the transformation and will inevitably end up Instagramming it, so thought I’d share here as well! It won’t be a tutorial by any means, because…well, I have no clue. I’ll just be taking orders whenever I can help…and taking photos the rest of the time. 🙂

Below are some cell phone pics I’ve taken along the way…

1. A scraper for removing that lovely blue tile.

2.  Plaster which we’re using to even out the wall.

3. That’s the tile, glass tile for the backsplash, and countertop.

4. The beginning of our project…removing tiles.

Mother of Pearl Bathroom Tiles

These are some of the materials..I picked out really neutral colors, so whoever comes in after us down the road will hopefully be able to make it their own! The glass tile looks like mother of pearl and will go on the entire wall behind the sink (sooo excited for that!) the counter top is a beige quartz with tiny reflective pieces!

Nowww for the before photos! They were getting started on the tear out, when I realized I didn’t have any before photos, so I of course had to stop them and grab these really quick! GOODBYE blue tile, blue tub, blue sink, blue toilet, blue everythingggg…I will not miss you!

How to tear down bathroom tiles

A little progress…all the wall tiles have been removed. This week we (Calvin and his man friends) will sand and plaster the walls.  Next weekend, we’ll be removing the floor and shower tiles (the not so fun part, because we know there’s been some water getting in between the tiles in the shower). But so far, removing the tile was pretty easy…and in case this is new to you, like it was for me. All it takes is a hammer and a scraper! 🙂

Next Monday, I’ll share more progress of our bathroom renovation adventure! It probably won’t even resemble a bathroom next week!
