Creating A Brand

Lately I’ve been really thinking about my ‘brand’. To me, photography is a very personal business. Most people don’t necessarily enjoy being in front of a camera and most of the time, photography is a luxury expenditure…something you only invest in every once in a while. So finding a photographer that you’re comfortable with and whose work you LOVE is crucial!

So. What’s that have to do with my brand? I want my brand to completely embody who I am and what my work conveys. So hopefully my clients and potential clients out there will know as soon as they visit my website, blog, facebook, etc. what to expect when they work with me!

So I asked myself 3 questions…
1. Why do I love photography?
2. Who am I?
3. What does my work convey?

1. Why do I love photography? I love that photography allows me to capture the sweet moments that will become legacies. Passed down through generations, a single photo can give my clients and future generations the ability to relive that experience and the emotions they were feeling in that sweet moment. Plus, I love being able to capture share how I view that moment and the love between a couple or the beauty that a woman radiates.

2. Who am I? This one was tough…describing yourself can be a terribly difficult task, not to mention that how others view you is just as, if not more important than how you view yourself. So I proceeded to ask friends, family, and yes, even strangers for answers to this one. I won’t lie, it was a bit of a self esteem booster to see what words people used to describe me! The words that kept popping up from both strangers/acquaintances and friends were:
Creative, Sweet, Dependable, and Carefree. (I was SHOCKED to see only one person noted my sarcasm!)

3. What does my work convey? Again, I solicited help from others on this one! I know what I want my work to convey, but wanted to see what others thought! I absolutely LOVE the words that kept coming up!
Romantic, genuine, classic, confident, playful, flirty, and whimsical/dreamy.

This is exactly what I could have hoped for and MORE! I love that this is what my work conveys.

Phew, each of these questions really could have been broken up into their own blog post! Sorry about the novel! Thursday, I hope to be able to post what I’ve taken from all this info and how it’s going to form my brand.

Until then, here’s another preview of the styled shoot I did this weekend! (Stay tuned for the whole session coming on Monday!)
