Getting Organized

Was it a month ago that I posted about our save the dates and staying on schedule? Oh wait, no, that was almost 2 months ago! And now the save the dates have been stuffed in their envelopes, sealed, and addressed…just waiting on the obligatory wedding appropriate stamps now! I’m ashamed! I never imagined that I’d procrastinate on wedding tasks! Thankfully, last week a friend of mine went ahead and bought her plane tickets to fly in for the wedding….aaand that pretty much gave me my sign that I’m WAY behind! So. I (with Calvin’s help) finished up the save the dates, started on our wedding website, created our honeymoon registry (no toasters and pots and pans for us!), and have started planning our honeymoon!

I must say, planning the honeymoon is almost more exciting than the wedding. I probably shouldn’t admit that publicly. But it’s true. And Calvin has more of an opinion about the honeymoon, so we can plan it together and talk about all the details. Planning centerpieces vs. deciding whether we’re going to take a helicopter ride or jump out of an airplane. I know which one gets me more excited! 🙂

Anyway, now that the save the dates are done and our website is almost done…I’m feeling caught up. But. I know time is moving fast, so I knew I needed to do something to make sure I keep on schedule until the wedding. I kept telling myself I didn’t need one of those big wedding planner binders from Barnes & Noble…but I finally relented. I need some kind of guidance, and clearly I hadn’t created my own schedule…so to Barnes & Noble I headed. I ended up going with something much simpler and straight to the point, it’s simply a book of checklists. By going through and checking things off, I’m feeling a lot better about where we are so far. Plus this thing is so detailed, I know it’s going to help a TON to make sure I don’t forget any little detail. Seriously, if you can’t afford a wedding planner (which I’d suggest now being in the midst of planning without one!) then go out and get one of these. Chances are, you’ve never planned a wedding before, so why not take the advice of professionals who’ve put all their knowledge in a book?!

Are you already married or planned a wedding before?  If so, I could use your words of wisdom on planning and making sure I don’t go completely crazy in the next few months!  🙂
