DIY Bridesmaid Cards

Will you be my bridesmaid? DIY Wedding

So I decided since my life will be consumed with DIY projects and tasks for our wedding until next June, I may as well share what I’m doing! When we first started planning, it was kind of overwhelming…especially when we were trying to find a venue. I think I researched every venue in this area and weighed out costs for each of them to figure out which one would be best for us and our budget. It. Was. Not. Fun. I was surprised that I wasn’t able to find some of that information on the internet already, so I’ve held on to all my spreadsheets and notes and plan on posting some of that information here. Hopefully it will help out others who are planning a wedding in this area! But that’s a later post.

The very first thing I thought about after Calvin and I got engaged was my bridesmaids. 🙂 I wanted to do something other than just call and ask if they would be my bridesmaids, and getting them all together for dinner or something wasn’t an option since two are out of state. So I turned to Pinterest for ideas. I found a tutorial on paperdoll invites and decided to go with that idea.

I went out and purchased scrapbook paper, cardstock, glitter, ribbon, and a punch to make a decorative border. I was gung-ho…thought I’d knock these things out in an evening. I was wrong. I think after about 3 weeks of experimenting and failing, then an entire Saturday…I finally had them complete. In the meantime, every time I saw one of my Maid of Honors (yes, I have 2…I don’t like playing by the rules.) 🙂 she would ask what I’m doing about bridesmaids, have I decided if I’m having any, etc? I just pretended like I hadn’t given it any thought. But I was really thinking, if I could just get these stupid paperdolls to work, I could tell you!!

Anyway, here’s the final result… Calvin said they look like voo-doo dolls, but I prefer bobbleheads. I think all the girls got a good laugh out of them, and hopefully they were surprised!

By now we’ve made it pretty far into planning our wedding…so there’s a lot more to come! We’re headed off to DC this weekend to have our engagement pictures taken with Carrie Holbo! Calvin and I have been working on our modeling skills and wearing our retainers at night to make sure we look our best! Hahah I’m excited it’s finally here because for one, we’ll finally have pictures to hang around the house and secondly, I’ll be giving Calvin his first tour of Washington D.C.! Oh, and third….we get to visit Ikea. 🙂

Have a good weekend everyone…and check back soon for our engagement pictures!
