When it comes to my wedding collections, the pricing is simple. I offer one main package that covers the necessities to have the best experience with me as your wedding photographer. This was sort of hard for me to do at first because I love to be so accommodating to my couples and provide whatever they request, but then I realized that was usually to the detriment of my couples! You should be able to trust your photographer to do what they need to do in order to provide you with the best photos possible, consistent with what you saw in their portfolio, and it’s my job to let you know what service you need in order to receive that!
So today, I’m going to give the spiel I give all of my couples about why my engagement sessions are complimentary and so important for you to take advantage of!
5. Because, well, it’s FREE!
When you hire me to photograph your wedding, you receive the engagement session for no additional fee. Why not take advantage of it?! Trust me, you don’t want this session to go to waste! Reasons 1-4 should hopefully convince you of this!
4. Getting engaged is an exciting milestone!
Whether you realized it on your first date or 6 months into dating, I’m betting you’ve daydreamed about that moment your spouse would finally pop the question! Now that it finally happened, remember the occasion with photos that capture you two as you are right now, pre-wedding.
3. It’s a chance to just have fun and be yourselves!
Your engagement session is a chance to wear whatever you want, go where ever you want, and do whatever you want! You’re not limited by a timeline or the location of your wedding—so take advantage of that! If I could do my engagement session all over again, I’d do something totally untraditional, like have my photographer capture us having a day on the beach—something totally normal and US.
2. It’s a chance for me to get to know you!
Getting to see how couples interact at an engagement session is SO helpful in helping me get to know you two as a couple! Almost everyone is nervous before having their photos taken, that vulnerability makes you cling on to your significant other for comfort…and in those moments it’s so easy to see who you two truly are as a couple. This is SO important, because my goal is always to capture photos that are authentically YOU!
1. It’s the perfect practice for your wedding day!
This is number one, because it’s just so, so important! Most couples are nervous getting in front of a camera, not sure what to do/how to pose and are so nervous about how the photos might turn out. By the time the engagement session is over, couples always say how fun it was and all their nerves were for nothing! That means, by the time the wedding rolls around, none of those nerves or insecurities are there, and you two can truly ENJOY your portrait time just focusing on one another! Plus, you already know exactly how I work, so capturing a variety of photos within a tight timeline when things are running behind on a wedding day is 1000x easier! So, if for no other reason, do it for better wedding day portraits. Once it’s time for your wedding day portraits, I promise you won’t regret that engagement session!
So if you’re considering a wedding photographer right now, keep these things in mind! It’s ALWAYS a good idea to have that engagement session before your wedding!
