LeighAnn is a Senior at Western Branch High School….the high school I actually graduated from myself! It was so much fun reminiscing with her about high school, hearing about her experience….all the things that are still the same, like the crazy short breaks between classes and the dreaded tardy table! I remember that tardy table all too well! 🙂 But more importantly, I loved hearing about her plans for after graduation. Senior year is such an exciting time, I think that’s why I love photographing senior portraits so much! Graduation for me doesn’t mean the completion of a period of your life, it’s the beginning of something SO much more! It’s WORTH documenting.
I love looking back on the senior photos my friend and I did of one another (we were obsessed with her dad’s film SLR!) around Chippoke’s State Park. It reminds me so much of our (excessive) driving down country roads with the music blaring, with no real end destination (clearly gas was cheaper back then!). The anticipation was building then…the wonder of what’s to come next, the excitement for what college held for me, and the little bit of fear for leaving my comfort zone that I knew so well. And I’m reminded of that everytime I talk to my seniors about their plans after graduation!
Enjoy this last semester of your high school career, LeighAnn! I can tell you’re ambitious and hardworking, and with your positive attitude, you’re sure to do well at whatever you decide to do!!
