I don’t even know where to start with this wedding! Kari was a very detailed bride….you could tell every nook and cranny of her wedding was well thought out and that a lot of creativity and do-it-yourself project hours went into this! Both she and Nathan were in the music program at Christopher Newport University. Their love for music was perfectly incorporated into their ceremony with a vocal octet. They also did a salt covenant in lieu of the sand ceremony and lighting of the candles…it was the first time I had heard of it, but with the meaning behind it, found it to be such a sweet addition to their beautiful ceremony!
Side note: The salt covenant is similar to the sand ceremony, in that the grains represent the two lives being intertwined and inseparable. But the significance of salt is it’s preservative qualities. Salt is referenced in the Bible as a component of binding covenants, due to this “eternal” or preservative nature of salt. In ancient times, contracts were sealed with a symbolic sprinkle of salt into the other’s pocket. (Resource)
Following their ceremony, we went and finished up their portraits. The Mill at Fine Creek is SUCH a gorgeous venue….I could have shot all day out there! There were so many gorgeous spots and thankfully Kari and Nathan were total troopers to endure the heat so we could take full advantage of it. Sooo you may as well sit back and relax because this is going to be a long one, full of way too many photos! I couldn’t help myself 🙂
