Networking, Photography & Sunflare!

Lately I can’t help but feel so lucky. I have a pretty much perfect fiancé who I’ll be celebrating 3 years with this weekend and will be marrying in approximately 111 days (but who’s counting?!), a career that I love in marketing, the best friends and family I could ask for,
a growing business in photography, AND finally amazing friends in photography!

When I ventured into photography a year ago, I had no clue what it would turn into, but I was excited! …Until I realized how scary it can be! To make a very long story short, for a while I felt like there were more experienced, established photographers waiting at every corner to tear me down. So for a long time, I kept to myself, did a ton of research and improved on my own. Luckily, Calvin has been there every step of the way and continued to encourage me…otherwise I probably would have given up by now.

But I was recently introduced to a group called ‘Hampton Roads Creative‘. This group was started by several local photographers whose main goal was to create a friendly, encouraging community for all creatives no matter what their skill level is or where they happen to be in their careers. Through this group, I’ve met so many amazing women that have become friends! It’s so refreshing to have people to talk to and bounce ideas off of without fear of being torn down or ridiculed. Plus, I know Calvin’s excited, because that means he doesn’t always have to be my test subject….but he’ll always be my favoriteeee. 🙂

Anyway, last weekend I met up with a couple of women that I’ve met through photography, Sarah (Sarah Street Photography) and Judith (Fresh Look Photography). I had so much fun walking around the Adam Thoroughgood House and taking photos, seeing how each other worked, and playing with some different lighting than I normally would…

I hope you enjoy! And be sure to check back tomorrow for another gorgeous session! 🙂
